Comparison
CodeSync SI vs GitHub Copilot
The short version
GitHub Copilot is an in-editor assistant from GitHub. It suggests the next lines and can chat about the file you have open. CodeSync SI is an engineering desk: it snapshots a project, reports a fixed set of findings, applies only safe repairs, scores a review, and can generate files.
Use Copilot when you want completions while you type. Use CodeSync SI when you want a pass over the tree, including a free local pass with Ollama. Many people can use both. CodeSync SI is not a drop-in replacement for Copilot.
What Copilot is strong at
Copilot lives inside editors such as Visual Studio Code. Its product is suggestion and chat at the cursor, plus the surrounding GitHub account. That is a different surface from a zip upload, a CLI, and a hosted run history. GitHub publishes the current Copilot plans and prices; this page does not copy them.
What CodeSync SI is strong at
- A deterministic diagnose: empty files, broken relative imports, debugger statements, eval, unused bindings, and files nothing else imports.
- A safe repair that only removes debugger statements and renames unused bindings. It does not invent a missing module.
- A free desktop app and CLI whose default model is Ollama on localhost.
- Hosted plans at $30, $50, and $80 per month, with Extreme adding GitHub pull-request auto-fix, missions, and an API.
What we will not claim
We do not claim CodeSync SI matches Copilot's inline suggestion quality, IDE coverage, or install base. We also do not claim Copilot applies this product's safe-repair pass. Read GitHub's description of Copilot on github.com before you buy either product.
